Speech Therapy in McKinney, TX
If your toddler isn't talking as much as other kids their age, you don't have to wait and wonder. Oasis Speech offers speech therapy by video for McKinney, Prosper, Melissa and Allen families, led by Sherry Owais, M.A., CCC-SLP.
Is My Toddler a Late Talker?
According to the CDC's developmental milestones:
By 18 months, most children try to say three or more words besides "mama" or "dada."
By 2 years, most children say at least two words together, like "more milk."
By 2 years, most children point to things in a book when you ask.
Talk to your doctor and consider an evaluation if your child isn't meeting these milestones, rarely points or gestures, doesn't respond to their name, or loses words they used to say. Learn more about speech delay in toddlers.
Why Toddler Speech Therapy Works Well at Home
For toddlers, most of the progress happens between sessions, during meals, baths and play. In video sessions, Sherry coaches you while you play with your child. You learn a few strategies at a time, like waiting a beat before helping or naming what your child is looking at, and use them all week. You don't need special toys. What you have at home works.
Start With ECI, Too
