Speech Therapy in Frisco, TX

Online speech therapy for Frisco families, from Frisco and Little Elm to Prosper. Sherry Owais, M.A., CCC-SLP, helps children and teens with the social side of communication, along with speech sounds, language and stuttering.

What Social Communication Covers

Social communication is how we use language with other people. Kids who struggle with it may:

  • Talk at length about their favorite topic and miss that others want a turn

  • Have trouble joining a game or a group conversation

  • Take jokes, sarcasm, and figures of speech literally

  • Miss cues from tone of voice or facial expression

  • Want friends but not know how to keep a conversation going

These differences show up with autism, ADHD and language disorders, and sometimes on their own. Learn more about our autism speech therapy.

What Social Skills Therapy Looks Like

Sessions use real conversation, games, role-play, and short video clips. Sherry ties goals to your child's life: recess, group projects, a birthday party, texting a friend. Parents get simple ways to coach between sessions without turning every talk into a lesson.

Frisco Is Split Between Two Counties

Frisco sits in both Collin and Denton counties, and that affects which Early Childhood Intervention program serves children under 3. On the Collin County side, it's ECI of LifePath Systems. On the Denton County side, it's MHMR of Tarrant County's ECI of North Central Texas.

Most Frisco addresses are in Frisco ISD, which also serves parts of Little Elm, Plano, McKinney, and Prosper. Some neighborhoods are zoned to Prosper, Lewisville or Little Elm ISD. Social communication needs can qualify for school speech services. Our Texas school evaluation guide explains the process.
